A Child Is Missing—originally published as The Dog Hermit—follows a newspaper editor in upstate New York who is drawn into a deadly web of hatred and suspicion after covering the kidnapping of a young child. When the events surrounding the kidnapping also lead to the murder of the editor’s friend, he becomes even more boldly determined to uncover the truth. The book has been retitled to share the name of the 1995 TV movie based on its story.
