Two eBooks from Michael C. White!
We've added two new eBooks by critically acclaimed and Edgar-nominated author Michael C. White: The Garden of
Martyrs and A Brother's Blood!
The two titles are among his most classic works. In A Brother's Blood, White's debut, a German comes to rural Maine to investigate the murder of his brother. It's been fifty years since Dieter Kallick died while working in a backwoods logging camp. People hardly remember the man, who was, to many, a drifter and a stranger. So when Wolfgang shows up in town seeking answers, the recollections of his late brother's one friend, Libby Pelletier, are his only hope. But soon enough, his questions around town stir up waves of suspicion and fear. After a second murder, it's up to Libby to put the past to rest.
The Garden of Martyrs is a powerful novel based on real-life events. In 1806 Boston, a man is brutally murdered, and two unsuspecting Irish immigrants are charged with the crime. They are thrown in jail to languish as their rights are denied, and when they finally go to trial they are sentenced to death without a second thought. A French priest meets with the men to give them comfort, but, with religious tensions high, he must ultimately choose between the men and protecting the rest of his parishioners.
Michael C. White is an author of mystery fiction. He often focuses on historical scenarios, and has set novels in such disparate eras as the American Civil War and World War II's Eastern Front. He teaches fiction workshops at Fairfield University and the University of Southern Maine.
